Lima Police/Optimist Safety City Summer Academy 2016

The Lima Police Department in community partnership with the Lima Noon Optimist Club, the Lima Fire Department, and the Lima City Schools are taking registrations for the Lima Police/Optimist Safety City Summer Academy 2016. The Safety City Summer Academy utilizes the most advanced practical hands-on child safety program in the nation: the radKIDS Personal Empowerment Safety Education Program. Also the D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program is a major focus during the training. The Safety City Summer Academy covers some of the following safety training areas for children: Personal Safety                                          Home and Outside the Home Safety *Stranger Behavior/Lures                           *Aspects of Keeping Safe in and Outside the Home *Escape Routes & Safe Zones                    *Fire Safety*Severe Weather Training *Verbal/Physical Resistance Techn.’s      *Internet & Phone Safety To Thwart Abductors                                   * Gun Safety *Good/Bad/Uncomfortable Touch             *911 *Drug Prevention Out and About Safety                               Traffic Safety & Vehicle Related Safety *Safety in Public Places                               *General Traffic Safety *Play Safety                                                   *Danger in and Around Vehicles *Dog Safety and Attack Defense               *Bike Safety *School Safety                                               *Strangers in Vehicles   *Ages for the Safety City Summer Academy: 5-9 years old *Each session is every day Monday-Friday , with both morning and afternoon sessions available. *Morning Session: 9:00 am – 11:00 am, Afternoon: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm *Weeks Available: June 6-10,  June 13-17,  June 20-24,  June 27-July 01,  July 11-15,  July 18-22 Morning Session Graduation on Friday starts at 10:30 am Afternoon Session Graduation on Friday starts at 1:30 pm * There is no cost for the training. Training is paid for by the Lima Noon Optimist Club. * Training sessions and full staff led by Lima Police Officer Matt Douglass. Important Notice: If your child is unable to attend your scheduled week, we would very much appreciate at least a few weeks’ notice of cancellation so we can go to our waiting list. Through years of tradition at the Optimist Safety City, there is still no cost for your child’s training due to the generosity and sponsorship of Safety City by the Lima Noon Optimist Club, the Lima Police Dept., and their community supporters. Parents: Do not stay during classes. Full staff is on hand. Location: Optimist Safety City 700 S. Collett St. Lima Ohio. Bring the First Day of Class:  radKIDS Wellness Form and radKIDS Parental Consent Form. Please fill out & sign, and bring all forms with you the first day of class. Registration takes place Monday through Friday  April 04-April 15 from 7:30 am – 3:30 pm or until the classes are filled. We will then have a cancellation list.   NOTE: Class size will be limited to approximately thirty children per class.
